Welcome to Horizon's Robotics Club!
This club is a space for students to explore robotics, science, technology, and design, in addition to having fun and socializing. Most members of our club also form a team in the National Robotics League where we design, build, and compete with a robot built to battle other robots. We were the Grand Champions in 2019's regional competition and we took Second Place in 2020's. To learn more about the competition, please check out National Robotics League Colorado. NRL partners us with a local machining shop to provide students with real-life work connections. We have the opportunity to tour the machining shop each year.
NRL decided to cancel the competition this year (2020-2021), but we are looking forward to competing again in the 2021-2022 school year.
NRL Team Sponsors: Denver Machine (2020-current), Reata Engineering (2019).
Even if you're not interested in competing on the team, everyone is welcome to join us in the robotics club, to learn how to program, and to play with robots. We work on all sorts of projects:
- 3D design in Blender, Solidworks, Fusion 360, etc.
- building and flying drones
- KiwiCo engineering projects
- Sphero robots and Vex kits
- 3D printing
- Raspberry Pis
- And more!
This club has been comprised of mostly juniors and seniors in the past, but it is open to all grades. We normally meet once a week and more often closer to competition time (March/April). If this club interests you at all, please fill out THIS FORM. You can also join our Remind.
From there, I can invite you to our Schoology group with all sorts of resources. We will also host an informational session on Wed March 17th at 6 pm on Zoom. The link will be shared through the email you provide.
You can contact me via Remind or at Austin.C.Spreng @ adams12.org (without the spaces) if you have any questions.
