Courses

The Math Department offers a variety of courses for the college bound and non-college bound student.  Students should be aware that many colleges and universities require at least 3 math credits for admission.  Activities in all math classes include in-class work, homework assignments, problem solving, practical applications and the use of technology.  A graphing calculator is required for all math classes.  All 9th grade students will be required to take Contemporary Mathematics 1 & Contemporary Mathematics 2 as blocks during the 1st semester & 2nd semester, respectively.  Students will be scheduled into only Contemporary Mathematics 1 by teacher recommendation.  Some prerequisites may be waived by permission of the instructor.  The Math Department is dedicated to ensuring that every Horizon student graduates with a strong background in the fundamentals of algebra, geometry and statistics.
