COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is for students who have a strong interest in activities that will develop skills in power lifting, Olympic style lifting, body building and various anaerobic conditioning. The course also includes instruction in the areas of introductory anatomy, physiology, basic nutrition, periodization, general adaptation syndrome, and ergogenic aids.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. To help students gain an understanding of body composition based on skin caliper fat testing and the body Logic Body Fat Analyzer.2. To help students improve abdominal strength through pre and post testing.
3. Students will demonstrate a knowledge of weight training, spotting and safety techniques based on teacher evaluation.
4. To help students improve their understanding of anatomy, physiology and the energy systems used during muscular contraction.
5. To give students a basic understanding of nutrition including protein, carbohydrates, and fats.
6. To help students understand the purpose of carbohydrate loading vs. using popular sports drinks.
7. To give students a basic knowledge of Ergogenic aids including steroids and the hazards associated with drug use.

1. Make up slips are acquired from your teacher. They also can be found in the wt. room located on the tan filing cabinet next to the stereo.
2. Students have 2 days to make up an excused absence or excused no dress. It is the student's responsibility to find out information presented during their absence.
3. Students must show up at the beginning of the make-up class.
4. You must ask permission from the make up teacher to enter his or her class before you can participate in their class. Just don't show up & except to participate, they may not have room for you.
5. Written assignment - teacher assigned.
6. Unexcused Absences a zero is recorded and no make-up work is allowed.
7. Excused Absences a minus 6 is recorded and 2 days are allowed to make up this work. If not completed in the allotted time a zero is recorded.
8. Unexcused no Dress a minus 4 is recorded and makeup work is not allowed.
9. Excused no Dress a minus 4 is recorded and 2 days are allowed to make-up this work. If not completed in the allotted time a zero is recorded.
A student is tardy up to 15 minutes into the class period. After 15 minutes the student will be considered absent. A minus 6 is recorded and make-up work is not allowed.
