REMOTE LEARNING UPDATE:
Friday 3 April 2020 --- Now that the announcement has been made that we will be doing Remote Learning for the rest of the year I will have a weekly class meeting so we can all chat about how we can support each other for the rest of the year. I heard so many positives about Wednesday's meeting from all of you that I think this will help everyone!!! 100% Optional to join these meetings.
I will be using our Google Classroom as the main point of communication. I will be posting updates by every Monday morning by 7:00am.
The main focus while we are doing Remote Learning will be YOUR FUTURE (transition planning)!!! Instead of dwelling on all the stressful and negative events surrounding us that we have no control over; lets do something we can control!! In other words, by the end of remote learning lets all have a plan for our future when this Pandemic is under control and we get back to some sense of normal. Every week you will get 3 items from me in Google Classroom that need to be completed by Sunday.
- Grade Check Form (Weekly Progress Report - Very abbreviated from what we did during the school year)
- Infographic Reflection (a colorful and fun infographic every week that can help you NOW and in the future regarding mental health and emotions).
- Transition Planning Activity (i.e. What career; Plan A & B, Post-Secondary Training; Where & How do you want to live?; etc.)
As always communication is critical! Keep small problems small so they do not become big problems. The purpose of Special Education is always to support you in your general education classes so you can become independent and no longer need special education support. Help me to help you by communicating if you are struggling in one of your general education classes!!!
Text me! Email me! ANY TIME!!! Does not matter if it is about academics or emotional struggles!!!

Classes taught: Interpersonal Development with emphasis in Social/Emotional Learning and Executive Functioning Skill Coaching
I began my career as a College Football Coach and then moved into K-12 public education. I began my teaching career in Health/Physical Education then moved into school administration in 1999 at Columbine High School. From the experiences at Columbine to Manual High School which had served the students in their neighborhood since the 1890s be closed and all the students scattered to different high schools; I learned that education is not just about test scores. There is something about the high school experience that teaches grit, perseverance, resilience and how to be Independent. How??? The belief and skills to be confident that "There is no problem that cannot be solved", "there is no conflict that cannot be resolved" and finally there is "no stress that cannot be managed". That is what I teach and coach!!!
I returned to teaching and coaching at Mountain Range High School the 2nd year it was open and moved to Horizon in 2014.
In the fall I coach the Linebackers at Prairie View High School.
