In June of 2007, seven Horizon High School DECA Members, one Thornton High School DECA Member, two Horizon German Language students, two parents, Mr. Samora, his wife, and Ms. Valentine embarked on an eleven day whirlwind tour of Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Munich, and Berlin!
On June 15, 2007, the group departed Denver via Lufthansa Airlines and flew non-stop to Munich. After arriving in Munich, we ventured in to the city center by train to enjoy the sights and tastes around the Marienplatz. In the early afternoon we took the train back to the Munich airport to continue on to Budapest, where our tour officially began. We were joined by a small group of teachers, adults, and student from California, a small group of teachers and and a high school administrator from Louisiana, and finally a large group of students, teachers, and adults from Puerto Rico bringing our tour group to forty-eight. Using the subways, trains, and our deluxe Mercedes tour coach, we proceeded to explore and experience the sights, sounds, tastes, and cultures of some of the most magnificent cities in the world. Our EF Tour Director, Almut Brennert was wonderful, and tireless; I don't know how she did it! The bulk of our worn out Horizon group returned back to Denver (via Munich), flying out of Berlin on June 25, 2007. Four of us stayed behind to savor more of Germany and visit relatives living in Germany.
