We will be taking the Iron Mountain Tramway up to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park where you will definitely want to ride the Canyon Flyer and/or the Swing Shot on Sunday before conference activities begin. You can check out the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park by visiting their web site at:

ConferenceDress Code:

In recent years  we received many requests as to what were the expectations of the Invitational and the community regarding dress at our different activities.  We will list the dress code here so you and your students can plan accordingly.  We hope you will assure your student’s are dressed appropriately.  Generally, our dress code conforms to Nationals with some exceptions because of timing and buses.  We find the following categories useful to communicate with our students.

Category 1      Anything reasonable. T shirts, jeans, sweats.  The type of stuff worn to be comfortable on the bus.  No bad language or symbols allowed

Category 2     The typical DECA apparel when not participating in an event.  Collared shirts, slacks, skirts, blouses, dresses, etc.  No jeans,  no t-shirts,  no sweats.

Category 2+   Category 2 plus a tie for gentlemen;  no athletic shoes.

Category 3       Full bore dress up.  Coat and tie for gentlemen; similar maximum business attire for ladies.

1. Opening Team Activity  12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday       Category 2, but if you have just got off the bus category 1 is fine.  We understand.

2. 100 question National DECA test                                                        Category 2+

3. Sunday Night Meal                                                                                     Category 2

4. Swimming at the Pool                                                                                A swimsuit would be advisable

5. Monday role play                                                                                       Category 3. There is a point value on every evaluation sheet for appropriate business attire and the judges have been instructed to reward proper attire.

7. Monday Movie                                                                                           Category 2

8. Monday Meal and Awards                                                                      Category 3. We would like students to look sharp when they receive their award. However, we understand your need to get on the road home after the awards.  Use your own judgment.  There are numerous locations at GSHS where your students could change clothes before getting on your bus.
