Why aren't we staying at the Broadmoor?
This year, Horizon DECA has been assigned to stay off the Broadmoor Resort Grounds at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, along with twelve other DECA Chapters. The block of rooms required by Colorado DECA exceeds availability at the Broadmoor, so at the Broadmoor's discretion, they determine who stays at the Broadmoor and who gets shuffled off to the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The only schools guaranteed accommodation at the Broadmoor are those who stayed at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort last year. We will be shuttled between the Cheyenne Mountain Resort and the Broadmoor. Our appeal to stay at the Broadmoor (since we stayed at the Sheraton 2 years ago when it was the overflow Hotel and the Broadmoor had major construction /remodeling projects going) has been declined by the interim State DECA Director. Though inconvenient, our lodging will be less expensive, and that will be reflected in an adjusted final payment due Friday, February 15 ($20 for student's earning the HHS DECA State Prep Scholarship). There is also reasonable and affordable dining options available close by to guests staying at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort.

Economical Restaurants on the Broadmoor Grounds:
There are some relatively economical places to eat on the Broadmoor grounds. Click on the name of each of the following restaurants for details; Cafe Julie, Golf Club Grille, and the Golden Bee. I would recommend reservations if they are taken!
The INCREDIBLE Sunday Brunch in the Lake Terrace Dining Room is not necessarily economical (but it does cover two meals for Sunday!). The Brunch at the Broadmoor is World Class and in many State DECA veteran's opinions, the BEST MEAL AT THE BROADMOOR and a necessary splurge! Brunch at the Lake Terrace Dining Room will set you back about $40, but what a tasty way to spend $40! MAKE RESERVATIONS NOW, seating will fill up.
For ALL dining reservations, call 1-800-634-7711 and ask for Dining Reservations.
THE CONFERENCE WILL CONCLUDE TUESDAY AFTERNOON ON FEBRUARY 26 WITH A LUNCHEON AND AND AWARDS SESSION, WHERE YOU MAY PLAY A STARRING ROLE!
There is a required Parent Meeting for ALL State DECA Leadership Conference participants. The meeting is on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. in room EO506. We will review our State DECA code of conduct and Horizon H.S./School District 12 policies as they pertain to overnight conferences. We will also make clear our expectations for student behavior as well as the consequences for violating State DECA and/or Horizon High School conduct/behavior expectations. It is essential that at least one parent and/or legal guardian attend for each student participant AND the student participant attend!
