Anime Club

Anime Club is a club that caters to fans of Japanese animation by promoting, showing and discussing anime genres while trying to broaden understanding of Japanese culture.

Activities include:

Watching anime and animated movies during club
Attending Colorado Anime Fest

Dungeons & Dragons Tabletop Gaming Club

Lisa Zinnecker, Club SponsorEveryone is welcome to join for student-led campaigns. No experience necessary! Drop-ins welcome!

We meet every Friday after school in D0409 (the Meester Lab). Sessions generally run from 3:20-4:30

We will mainly play D&D 5E, but we are open to trying new things. We will have some board and card games available to play as well.

English National Honor Society

Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary academic competition involving teams of four to six students trying to answer questions in a written round and several oral rounds. No team is eliminated in this event, and every team participates in every round. Knowledge Bowl is usually a power competition in which team groupings are rearranged after each round on the basis of their total points accumulated.

Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Boomerang Project’s proven high school transition program trains mentors from your junior and senior classes to be Link Crew Leaders. As positive role models, Link Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.

Mission

The Horizon High School chapter of the National Honor Society is a club which, according to the National Honor Society Constitution, seeks to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Central to the mission of NHS are the four pillars of:
Scholarship - a dedicated commitment to lifelong learning
Service - the choice of stepping outside oneself to meet the needs of others
Leadership - embodying the spirit of initiative, innovation, and influence to champion positive change
Character - consistent commitment to ethical and compassionate decision-making

Membership

To be eligible to apply for membership, students must be current sophomores or juniors with a cumulative weighted GPA of at least 3.5 and must demonstrate the values of NHS. Eligible students will receive an email at the beginning of each year inviting them to complete the NHS Application. Applications are due no later than 3:30pm, Wednesday, August 27. No late applications will be accepted.

Applications will be evaluated by a faculty council, considering factors such as extracurricular involvement, disciplinary record, honors and awards, past community service, and teacher feedback on candidates. Members chosen by the faculty council will be inducted into the Horizon High School Chapter of the National Honor Society in a formal induction on Monday, September 185 from 6:30 to 8:30.

Meeting Information

NHS meetings will be held in Q2714 on the second Tuesday of every other month. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 9 at 3:15. Members should complete their NHS Membership Contract at their earliest convenience.
