Mission
The Horizon High School chapter of the National Honor Society is a club which, according to the National Honor Society Constitution, seeks to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Central to the mission of NHS are the four pillars of:
Scholarship - a dedicated commitment to lifelong learning
Service - the choice of stepping outside oneself to meet the needs of others
Leadership - embodying the spirit of initiative, innovation, and influence to champion positive change
Character - consistent commitment to ethical and compassionate decision-making

Membership
To be eligible to apply for membership, students must be current sophomores or juniors with a cumulative weighted GPA of at least 3.5 and must demonstrate the values of NHS. Eligible students will receive an email at the beginning of each year inviting them to complete the NHS Application. Applications are due no later than 3:30pm, Wednesday, August 28. No late applications will be accepted.
Applications will be evaluated by a faculty council, considering factors such as extracurricular involvement, disciplinary record, honors and awards, past community service, and teacher feedback on candidates. Members chosen by the faculty council will be inducted into the Horizon High School Chapter of the National Honor Society in a formal induction on Wednesday, September 18 from 6:30 to 8:30.
Meeting Information
NHS meetings will be held in Q2714 on the second Tuesday of every other month. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 10 at 3:15. Members should complete their 24-25 NHS Contract at their earliest convenience.
