Social Studies Department

Our Social Studies Department offers a variety of courses that provide our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be productive, informed, and active citizens of our increasingly global society.

It is our goal that as a result of participation in these courses, students will be able to:

  • Solve problems, make decisions and analyze issues from multiple perspectives
  • Read, write, and communicate ideas in a clear and thoughtful manner, using evidence to support arguments
  • Understand and analyze how ideas, events, and individuals have intersected to produce change within and across nations and cultures
  • Understand the different ways people view, construct, and interpret history
  • Understand how individuals, business, and governments make decisions regarding the allocation of scarce resources
  • Use economic reasoning skills to make sound financial decisions
  • Analyze and practice rights, roles, and responsibilities of citizens
  • Analyze the impacts of government structures and policies on societies and citizens
