Schools celebrate new and improved spaces

Schools across Adams 12 Five Star Schools have spent the past two weeks celebrating new and improved spaces made possible by the Five Star community’s support of the 2024 bond.

Silver Creek Elementary marked the first day of school by cutting the ribbon on two new playgrounds — one designed for kindergarten students and another for students in grades 1-5. Students joined school and district leaders to officially open the playgrounds before putting the new equipment to immediate use.

At Tarver Elementary, the school community celebrated a new pre-K playground created specifically for its youngest learners. The safe, welcoming space gives students new opportunities to play, explore and spend time together.

Horizon High School also hosted a ribbon cutting for its renovated Significant Support Needs (SSN) wing and Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) spaces. The projects transformed the school’s former pre-K area into a space intentionally designed around the needs of students and the staff members who support them.

The celebrations represent just a few of the bond projects completed across the district during summer 2026. Crews worked at schools throughout Adams 12 on building renovations, playground replacements, new career and technical education spaces, furniture upgrades, paving, landscaping, technology infrastructure and other improvements.

Additional ribbon cuttings are planned in the coming weeks as more school communities celebrate the completion of projects designed to create safe, welcoming and engaging places for students to learn and grow.
