I began teaching at Horizon in 2007 and taught here for 7 years. During that time I completed my Master’s Degree, MS in Secondary Math Education from UCD, and a Certificate in Administration from DU. I then became a Dean of Students (in Adams 12), but remained in contact with Horizon through coaching and staff connections. I was very happy to return to Horizon this year to once again teach math. This will be my 22nd year in education, and my 8th year teaching at Horizon.
I believe that math can be viewed as a difficult subject for many students, it is because of this reasoning that I became a math teacher. I enjoy helping students to feel that they can be successful in math no matter what their preconceptions may be.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my wife, Denise (who is also a math teacher) and my family, I have 4 kids (adults now), Cecilia, Jayme, David and Nick. 3 of them are Horizon graduates! I also have a grandson, Ayden James "AJ", who will be 1 in September. I also enjoy camping, riding side-by-sides (UTVs), working on/restoring cars and collecting cars, playing games (video games, board games, etc.) and watching movies!
