About Me: I began my teaching career right here at Horizon High School in 2009 after earning my bachelors degree in English and Communication Studies and Masters of English Education, both from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (Go Gophers, eh?).
Teaching high school is the best, particularly teaching English, because I love helping students think critically about and communicate more effectively in world around them. I am super passionate about working with the affective side of student development in addition to creating a learning environment focused on student engagement and retention through a dedicated and enthusiastic delivery of instruction to all learners (and lots of terrible, terrible teacher jokes!).
Outside of school, my side gig is as a yoga teacher, so I try to incorporate mindfulness techniques into the classroom when I can. Outside of that, you can usually (thanks, COVID) find me on an airplane with a one-way ticket to another country, hiking up the beautiful mountains of Colorado, or shredding down them on my skis most weekends in the winter.
Despite these weird times, I am SO looking forward to the 2020 - 2021 school year! The best way to contact me is through the HHS website contact form or by phone @ 720-972-4543. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about our new curriculum or remote learning so that we can make this the most succesful experience for your student.
I apologize in advance, but here is my (very cringy cause who wants to film themselves?) welcome back to school video!
