I am excited for my 25th year teaching at Horizon High School. Over the years, I have taught Student Government, Russian, Service Learning, and all levels of English. I am proud to have been part of the SOAR program since the start. I currently sponsor our Green & Clean Environmental club which meets on 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month; we are open to all students who wish to learn more about environmental activism.
You can best reach me through the contact form on Horizon's web page, or by leaving me a voicemail at (720) 972-4586. Voicemail is delivered to me directly.
As an educator, I believe in creating an enjoyable and energetic classroom environment, where students push themselves to succeed. I believe communication is the fundamental key of being human, so I take my work teaching English pretty seriously! I see my job as helping students see truth in a hard day’s work, value in honesty, and validity in asking questions. I celebrate the smallest steps forward, and strive for continuous improvement. I also love helping students aspire to postsecondary study.
I serve on the Executive Board of the District Twelve Educators' Association, and I get the opportunity to work with new teachers across the district through the district Induction program. I am the current TEACH Colorado Ambassador for the Adams 12 district, I am a consultant with Colorado's Big Idea Project, and I coach Early Career Learning Lab sites across the western United States.
When I'm not working, I love exploring the outdoors with my kids, laughing at memes with my wife, petting my 4 cats and 1 dog, and cranking up the heavy metal while working with power tools.
